Common Questions and Answers about Mobile Banking

Q. What is Mobile Banking?
A. Mobile Banking gives you the ability to check balances, view transactions, transfer funds between First Southern Bank accounts etc. Mobile Banking offers convenient, secure, on-demand mobile banking services and delivers the information you need, right to your cell phone.

Q. Is Mobile Banking secure?
A. Mobile Banking delivers the highest level of security with multiple layers of authentication. To protect your privacy, you are required to authenticate yourself on each individual mobile device using the same information as Online Banking. In addition, your account password and account information are never stored on your cell phone.

Q. Is there a cost for Mobile Banking?
A. Mobile Banking is offered as a FREE service to all our First Southern Bank customers. Please Note: You may be charged for SMS text messages and internet access depending on your carrier. Web access is needed to use Mobile banking but not for text messaging. Check with your service provider for details on your phone's capabilities and specific fees and charges.

Q. What types of accounts can I access with Mobile Banking?
A. Mobile Banking will provide access to the same accounts that are viewable through Online Banking, including checking, savings, CD's and loans.

Q. Does Mobile Banking require software to be installed on my phone?
A. No. Mobile Banking is a browser-based application that does not require any software to be loaded to the individual device.

Q. Can I add more than one mobile phone?
A. Yes. You can enroll several mobile phones. To add a new phone, click on the Enrollment section.

Q. Is there a waiting period after enrolling?
A. No. Once you have enrolled, Mobile Banking is activated and ready to use. After enrolling, you should immediately receive a One Time Password (OTP) text on your cell phone. To access your accounts through Mobile Banking:

  • Click on the link that was sent in the OTP message
  • Enter your Access ID (same Access ID you use to log into Online Banking
  • Click on Submit

You should now be able to navigate through your accounts via your cell phone. Each time you log into Mobile Banking, you will automatically be sent a new OTP text message for your next login.

Q. Is bill pay available through Mobile Banking?
A. Yes. Bill Pay is currently available through Mobile Banking.

Q. How do I enroll in Mobile Banking?

  • Log into Online Banking
  • Click Options
  • Scroll down and choose Mobile Banking Enrollment
  • Select Services – what you want to do (can check all)
  • Select your time zone
  • Select what accounts you want on Mobile Banking
  • Enter your Mobile Phone Number – you will receive a text message with an activation code. You MUST have the activation code to continue
  • Enter your activation code on the next screen and press activate
  • For text messaging ONLY you have completed the process
  • Continue if you have iphone or Android
  • You have received a text message with a link. Click on this link to download the app

Text Messaging Short Codes

The following is short codes in text messaging service to view account balances, view transaction history and locate ATM and branch locations using key words.

  • View Account Balances – Send B, BAL, BALANCE or BALANCES to the short code after activating your mobile phone
  • View Transaction History – Send STMT, TRAN or HIST plus the nickname for the account to the short code received after activating your mobile phone
  • Locate ATM Locations - Send ATM plus the ZIP code, city or state for the ATM to the short code received after activating your mobile phone
  • Locate Branch Locations – Send BRANCH plus ZIP code, city or state for the branch to the short code received after activating your mobile phone
  • Locate ATM and Branch Locations – Send BOTH plus the ZIP code, city or state for the branch to the short code received after activating your mobile phone
